These steps assume the student is already logged into Moodle and is trying to launch the Safe Exam Browser for a course. Normally, if a student attempts to enter their email address and Windows Hello is attempting to launch the Windows screen, the user will not be able to interact with it and get stuck with a non-interactive Microsoft sign-in prompt, as shown below.
Follow these steps to bypass this issue.
- User will be presented with the following prompt. DO NOT ENTER AN EMAIL ADDRESS. Click Sign-in options instead.
- On the next screen, click Face, fingerprint, PIN or security key. (Yes, this is what we actually do not want.)
- This will fail to launch but will provide a Back button that you will need to click.
- Now you will be presented with a login window. The user can enter their Bellarmine email address and click Next.
- It will now fail to login using the passkey that was enabled. Click Sign in another way.
- The next screen will present options for logging in. Click on Use my password.
- Once they enter their password, they’ll then be prompted to provide a secondary method to verify their identity.
Note: Select any option other than Face, fingerprint, PIN or security key as that option will still not work.- If they did click the first option, they can click the left-pointing arrow by their username to go back to the previous screen to select another option.
